Buying credits & auto-recharge
There are two ways to keep credits flowing: buy a pack whenever you notice you’re low, or save a card once and let auto-recharge handle it from then on.
Buying a pack by hand
Section titled “Buying a pack by hand”Open Billing and pick one of the credit packs under Buy credits. Clicking Buy takes you to a Stripe-hosted checkout page to pay for that pack; once it goes through, you’re brought back to the dashboard and your balance updates shortly after. Pricing and credit counts for each pack are shown right there on the screen, so check that page for current numbers rather than relying on what you remember from last time.
The card is Stripe’s, not ours
Section titled “The card is Stripe’s, not ours”Whether you’re buying a one-off pack or saving a card for later, the card entry itself happens on a page Stripe hosts — we never see or store your card number. Save card under Billing sends you to that same kind of Stripe-hosted page; once you’re done, you’re returned to the dashboard and the account shows a card on file.
Turning on auto-recharge
Section titled “Turning on auto-recharge”Auto-recharge needs a card on file first. Once you’ve saved one, turn on Automatically buy more credits when my balance runs low and set two things: the balance it should watch for, and which pack it buys once you cross that line. From then on, a low balance triggers that purchase on the saved card without you doing anything.
If a charge fails
Section titled “If a charge fails”A single failed charge doesn’t shut anything off. You’ll get an email that the attempt failed, and auto-recharge tries again automatically the next time your balance drops low enough to trigger it — no action needed unless it keeps happening. If it fails a second time in a row, auto-recharge turns itself off and emails you that it needs attention. At that point, update the card on file and turn auto-recharge back on to pick up where it left off.
What to watch out for
Section titled “What to watch out for”Auto-recharge always buys whichever pack is currently selected in its settings, not necessarily the one you last bought by hand — check that selection if you change your mind about pack size, rather than assuming it remembers your last manual purchase.
If you’re on a Pro or Premium plan, its top-up bonus applies automatically to every pack you buy — by hand or through auto-recharge — so a subscriber gets more credits out of the same purchase than a pay-as-you-go account does. More on that in Pro & Premium plans.
